Quiet wheatear day

August 17, 2010

Hmmm, bit quiet on the wheatear front today. Just the usual suspects on video – Moulting Female, Noisy Juv, Quiet Juv and Pink Over Yellow. Trying to get others to get on the feeders with some new tempting bowls of live mealworms just outside the station, where there is always a crowd of wheatears hanging around in the morning.

Good whale day though. Saw three fin whales feeding outside, going backwards and forwards throughout most of the morning and into the afternoon. Outi also saw distant orcas (very rare here) and said a hunter reported long-finned pilot whales nearby.

No whale photo today,  just Pink Over Yellow spotting itself in the video camera lens!
